This morning as I went into the room, I knew.
This morning as I gazed at your face, I knew.
This morning as you nuzzled my hand, I knew.
No need for doubts, time was right, I knew.
Your thin creaky legs ached, I knew.
Your glazed old eyes blinded, I knew.
Your droopy silver ears deaf, I knew.
No need for regrets, time was right, I knew.
Playing with your toys no more, I knew.
Pulling on the lead no more, I knew.
Panting as breath you fight, I knew.
No need for fear, time was right, I knew.
As I carried you to the place, I knew.
As I lay you on the table, I knew.
As you closed your eyes, I knew.
No need for tears, now peace you know.
