The House
with the Pink Wisteria
by Sherri Turner

I should have realised when I saw
that your wisteria was pink.
I’d only seen the purple kind before
and, being me, I didn’t stop to think.
So really it’s my own fault for missing all the signs -
they were hardly esoteric -
and finding you in bed with Derek
should be no cause for mass hysteria.
I should have realised when I saw your house had pink
wisteria.
