Jane Austen's Regency World promises to cater to everyone
from Jane Austen scholars to viewers captivated by the TV adaptations
of her work It will contain comment and criticism, news, views and
media events, as well as features on people and places connected with
the Austen family, fashion and costume, food and recipes, homes and
interiors, and historic events of the period. Features m the launch
issue included collecting antiquarian books, recycling of names in
Jane Austen novels, and an interview with actor Benjamin Whitrow who
played Mr Bennett in the TV adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Openings
exist for freelance writers who can produce quality articles on subjects
related to Jane Austen and the Regency period. Any angle from the
scholarly to the downright whacky. It could be something historical
about Nelson or Napoleon or an opinion piece on whether studying novels
at school kills or kindles a love of the classics. The magazine is
a collaboration between publisher Worldmags Ltd and the Jane Austen
Centre, which recently came out top in a Visitor and Benchmarking
Survey carried out by South West Tourism. For further details on the
Centre, log on to the website: www.janeausten.co.uk
